How it Works

The Tour des Trees is the TREE Fund’s largest fundraising event and we are pleased that our title sponsor for the 2012 Tour is STIHL Inc. Not only a fundraiser for vital research, the Tour is also a public awareness event that spreads the word for the need for research to keep urban trees and forests healthy. Each participant is asked to commit to raising a minimum of $3,500 for the entire 7 days (or $600 per day for part-time participants) and to participate in the media and public awareness events that are planned along the Tour route.

Participants are also responsible for:

  • Paying a non-refundable $100 registration fee. This fee covers the administrative costs of the STIHL Tour des Trees
  • Providing their own transportation to and from Tour start and end points (including bicycle and equipment)
  • Covering the cost of their own meals and lodging before and after the Tour
  • Training for a 7-day cycling tour with daily mileages ranging from 40+ to 100+ miles (riders can set their own goals)
  • Wearing the provided rider apparel each day of the ride
  • Participating in all public awareness events and tree plantings planned along the Tour route

As a participant you will receive:

  • Lodging for each night of the Tour (double rooms – participants may request single rooms at additional cost)
  • All meals and snacks during the posted days of the Tour (alcoholic beverages are not included)
  • Luggage transport and SAG support during the Tour
  • Route maps and directions
  • Fund-raising materials and advice
  • Training advice and encouragement before and during the Tour
