Day Two: Seaside to Grand Ronde

Day Two. Monday.
Seaside to Grand Ronde – 106 miles.
As it turns out, Sunday was the nicest day Seaside has seen all summer. So Monday morning was the knee-jerk rectification of it: temperature in the mid 50s, strong headwinds, and rain.
The rain stopped before we left the hotel actually. But it sure made the riders nervous for a while.
Riding into headwinds is tough. Riding uphill into headwinds is doubly so.
So the prospect of that combination for 106 miles was daunting – even to grizzled old tour riders like me.
Eventually our route turned east away from the coast and – Gloryosky Ollie -we suddenly had a tailwind.
Suddenly karma was equaled, the equation of reality and expectation balanced. And beer was consumed to commemorate our good turn of fortune.
Tomorrow, as Scarlet said, is another day.
There’s no telling what will happen.
We love that part!

It only looks easy!
